Operate From Who You’re Becoming
We've talked about change before
About how it’s happening whether you plan for it or not.
Let me offer you a different lens.
Would you use a phone from ten years ago?
Original factory settings.
No software updates.
Outdated operating system.
Probably not.
You wouldn’t expect it to function at today’s level.
And yet, this is exactly what we often do with our identity.
We keep running on old internal software.
Beliefs formed in a different season of your life.
Limits shaped in a different chapter.
Stories built around who we used to be.
The key word there is used.
I’ve experienced this firsthand. I remember telling my business coach one day, almost in surprise, “I’ve realized I’m not the same person I was when we started working together.”
The update was striking.
The way I communicated. The way I made decisions. What I believed I was capable of.
It wasn’t dramatic overnight.
It was transformative over time.
One of my favorite quotes that I return to so often is this:
A mind that is stretched by new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.
Growth changes you. It stretches you.
But here’s the thing.
If you don’t consciously update how you see yourself, you’ll keep making decisions from an outdated version of you.
Your identity determines your ceiling.
So here’s your mid-month audit:
Where are you still thinking like the person you used to be… instead of the person you’re becoming?
What belief needs an update?
Is it possible you don’t need factory settings anymore?
Maybe what you need is alignment between who you are now and how you’re choosing your next decade.
Here’s my invitation. Operate from who you’re becoming, not who you were.
